Surgical Procedures at Our Pet Hospital in Valley Village
Our skilled and experienced veterinarians perform many types of surgeries, including but not limited to:
-Spays and neuters
Dr. Dogra and the entire Aloro Pet Hospital veterinary team fully understand the decision to allow your pet to undergo surgery is never easy. To that end, we are happy to answer any questions regarding your pet's specific surgery. All patients requiring surgery will receive a pre-surgical physical exam, during which your veterinarian is available to answer any questions you may have. Our veterinarians will also provide you with information on proper postoperative care and answer any questions you may have so you feel comfortable knowing you are making the right choice for your pet.
Ensuring the health and safety of your pet during surgery is our utmost concern and requires an anesthetic and monitoring regimen that adheres to the highest principles and ideals of quality care. We utilize a multi-parameter monitoring and anesthesia system so you can be absolutely certain of your pet's safety during all surgeries.
We will carefully examine your pet before surgery and perform a pre-surgical blood screen. The results of these tests are considered alongside your pet's past anesthetic history, breed, preexisting conditions and age, with the final result an individualized anesthesia protocol for your pet. For your pet's complete comfort, we also use topical anesthetics, opioids and NSAIDs.
During surgery your pet is cared for by a well-trained and experienced veterinary technician using our state-of-the-art monitoring system, which tracks blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, body temperature and oxygen level.
Complete Pain Management
We all know pain hurts, but it also has many other detrimental effects on your pet's body. The presence of pain slows healing, decreases activity and causes behavioral changes (such as aggression, anxiety and depression). Pain also worsens diseases like arthritis and potentially some cancers, and it interferes with the bond between you and your pet.
As part of our commitment to keep your pet comfortable and protect the bond you both share, we practice the most up-to-date and comprehensive pain management protocol. For surgeries as well as for acute and chronic conditions we use all our available and safe resources, including opioids, local anesthetics, NSAIDs (non-steroidal medications) and oral and injectable analgesics for the complete comfort of your pet.
Healing Postoperative Care
Following surgery, your pet will receive IV fluids as needed and be cared for by our attentive medical staff to ensure a safe recovery. As your pet is being discharged from the hospital, you will be provided with detailed information on how to administer any medication and properly care for your pet at home after surgery. We are also happy to answer any questions or concerns that may arise once you get your pet home.
